Why I Went Vegan…

“May all that have life be delivered from suffering.”

– Buddha

I began with being vegetarian for close to six years, as soon as I discovered everything involved with the dairy industry, I quickly changed my mindset and became vegan within the matter of a day.

I realized that the dairy industry is much worse than the meat industry. For starters, farmers artificially inseminate female cows causing a forced pregnancy, then use the pregnant cows for their milk, since the females can only lactate while pregnant. After they give birth, their calf is ripped away from the mother and sold for what is known as veal. The veal meat is created when farmers suffocate baby cows and the blood supply is cut off causing the calf meat to become pale white. However, if the pregnant cow gives birth to another female they raise it in the same conditions and use her for milk until the cows’ body can no longer take the stress and mistreatment. Once they can’t get pregnant anymore, retired female cows are then sold to be slaughtered and turned into beef.

Most people would trust whatever is written on the package of their food. The most common lie the meat industry claims is ” free range and cage free eggs.” Government regulations recently approved to change conditions of cage free to… allowing 2 inches around the chicken, but are STILL locked in a cage. If famers follow these guidelines then the industry can label cage free on the packaging. However, another conflicting circumstance is while it says cage free the chickens are sometimes locked in a pen with thousands of other chickens and no daylight. The worst part is most of the chickens die and instead of keeping the place well maintained the dead chickens stay on the floor, and guess what the surrounding hungry chickens eat?

The industry has so many negative aspects and I didn’t want to support it in any way shape or form. I consume ZERO animal products even honey, and only use vegan/cruelty free products. I became vegan to show my animal rights activist passion, while slowly learning about the health benefits of this diet as well.

I want to use this website to share the tricks I’ve learned, to make being vegan as easy as possible that way more people follow the vegan lifestyle footsteps. I hope you use this blog to your advantage, I love you all and remember if its not your momma its not your milk!
